ShUOCs annual Lakes Trip - 26th/27th Feb
Good afternoon ShUOC,
A happy new year to you all, hope you're all well & that revision isn't too painful!
On the weekend of the 26th/27th February we shall be holding our annual club trip to the Lake District. This is always a fantastic weekend full of quality training, scenery & general social funtimes.
This year we shall be attending a two day orienteering event 'Twin Peak 2011' being held by Manchester & District Orienteering Club. On the Saturday is a middle distance race at Bleathwaite event & on the Sunday a long distance race at Torver Back Common. This is a fantastic chance for some good technical training before BUCs in March so it'd be great to get as many of the club out as possible.
There is a range of courses available of different lengths and technical standards so don't worry if you haven't done much navigation before but fancy giving it a go in preparation for BUCs, there are courses suitable for everybody! The following link:
http://www.mdocmembers.plus.com/tp2011/ ... lyerV3.pdfgives full details of the two day event, only £4/£3 for students per day (+ £2 if you're not a British Orienteering Federation Member), a bargain! There will be a limited number of entries available on the day but it is best to enter online, Closing date 20th February, to guarantee your course of choice, there is a link for online entries on the flyer linked above. If you have any questions about this event & what course you feel would be appropriate for yourself please do not hesitate to ask!
We shall travel up on the Saturday morning, starts from 12:30pm so we won't have to get up too early! The general plan is as follows:
Saturday am: Travel up to Lake District, attend orienteering middle distance event.
Saturday pm: More training - probably a nice scenic run somewhere close by, or more orienteering training if you fancy.
Satueday evening: A nice meal in a pub somewhere with good drinks & chat.
Sunday am: Long distance orienteering event.
Sunday pm: Return to Sheffield.
Accomodation tbc, but will be cheap & cheerful which I think suits most of us. Most likely a village hall nearby.
Cost for the weekend shall therefore be event entry + food + accommodation + transport.
If you'd like to attend please respond to this email or post on the forum.
Also cars are needed so if you can drive, please let us know.
Again any questions are most welcome.
